Open the same dwg in 2008 and the clipping problem appears. Use the XCLIPFRAME system variable after the FRAME system variable to reset the clipped xref frame settings. When I am finished clipping an xref, a solid triangular shape hatch appears between the vertices of the xclip boundary. The result is not satisfactory at all.The first image shows the original block, the second one is the block clipped with the XCLIP command. I think, if memory serves me that setting this to 1 will leave a visible boundry around xclips, at least it does it to clipped xrefs.
