There are days when I have the cover backwards and the Start button doesn't work but only vibrates.....but then other days there's no affect and works just fine. This isn’t as drastic as it sounds —‘Windows apps’ are the ones built into Windows 10 and available from the Windows Store. My start button and cortana suddenly stoped working without any reason. If the glass on your Surface touchscreen is cracked or broken, touch may not work.
