I haven't tampered with the regional and language settings so should it be a problem,even if it is what exactly do I need to do with it??? If you press that very same ctrl key again, it should resolve your issue. Seems odd that resetting the USB connection resolved it and a restart would not have fixed it, but at least it was a simple fix. I know they are not broken as both would not go at the same time.
