I wanted to find what the heck is the problem and it was that. These include things like the screen saver, power, and sleep functions. I would never thought of that. If you have not done this before, proceed at your own risk.

I did have some problems later after loading a DVD. But you really have to make sure you take out the battery or unplug the computer, not just shutdown. When using another optical wired mouse (MS) everything is working without problem (also HID-compliant).
