THANK YOU... It kickstarts a small download which can try to sort out the problem internally and coming from Microsoft themselves, it should be safe to run. Right now my system is installing updates & then it will power itself off. I'm going to reboot & see what happens when things come back up.

I don't 'think' there are any more but BITS. It said to go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU. However, only XPsp3 and later gets them. When you connect to the Net, do you use a Proxy or go direct?
