When looking at error details, the MS advice gives an error code of 8007371C which, if you look in the 'get help with this error,' isn't even in the list! The only thing that made me nervous was that the first part of the installation (before restart) of the Malicious Software Removal Tool was on the long side ... I'm curious what this magic update fixed for KellyB56 and me. I started with step 2, It took around 4 minutes for windows update to be working.

I have been installing Windows for friends and own PC/Notebook for years and didn't encounter such problem until my latest notebook. Thank you so much. It also fixed other issues with certain programs that weren't opening. Deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder worked like magic. I also had ran all the diagnoses and fixes that windows caries and still looking for a solution.
