Older computer, just installed Win XP SP3, renewed the driver software from NVIDIA, installed the hotfix. But be carefully, after you download the driver for your video card, JUST INSTALL IT, do not change anything in the driver settings(Use the advanced 3D image settings->Take me there)  because the bug appears again. Windows Xp Standby Not Working

Mainly the issue is with XP not saving the status ofthe Power Management option "Turn off monitor" within the "Power Schemes" tab. works. Register now! I want a 'system standby', and it just does NOT.

I`m scratching the bottom of the barrel here! A case like this could easily cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Here you can set timeouts for your monitor, system standby, and hibernate. I later noticed that the drives were still spinning down, so I went back into the Power Options applet.

Now my monitor automatically enter in standby after a time set by me(2 mins, 3 mins...20 minutes). I noticed that it had all six default power schemes with no undesired extraneous schemes. I also unchecked all the others since I didn't know what they did, and sounded a bit useless. Or just import a new .cpl from another xp install, in Safe Mode. It then will blank the screen in 15 minutes, as it is set to do. That, plus the SSD drive now give me a super fast startup of both the system and major programs. Microsoft - please fix this problem!!
