Arun's little trick has very noticeably speeded up my Windows Explorer opening and other tasks on my computer. If you stopped applying patches at some point and those are OS updates to XP itself, it will keep nagging you to put those in. Antivirus updates are now unimpeded.The TDSSKiller and ComboFix scans actually found the rootkit.
